FAQs

?

The Environmental Protection Department’s “Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme for Offices and Public Places” establishes a two-tier standard as the basis for evaluating indoor air quality. This standard is aligned with internationally recognized health-based IAQ standards, including those adopted by the World Health Organization.

  • Excellent Class – Represents the best indoor air quality suitable for a superior and comfortable environment in buildings.

  • Good Class – Represents indoor air quality that can protect the general public, including children and the elderly.

Generally, the assessment takes about 1–2 days, depending on the size of the premises. During the assessment, instruments are placed at designated spots, and the impact on daily operations is minimal.

The cost depends on the scope of inspection, floor area, number of sampling points, and certification level applied. Lux Lab inspectors will conduct a site survey to understand the conditions before providing an appropriate quotation.

The certificate is valid for 1 year from the date of issue or until the anniversary of the certificate issued by the Environmental Protection Department, whichever is earlier.

The certification cycle is up to 5 years:

  • Years 2–4: Partial parameter checks (e.g., CO₂, RSP, etc.)

  • Year 5: Full re-assessment covering all parameters (known as the “major assessment”).

After completing the assessment, Lux Lab issues the IAQ assessment report. Qualified applicants may then apply to the EPD for IAQ certification.
From submission to certificate issuance, the process usually takes about 30 working days.
